Join Folk Star Arts Academy for energetic Bhangra workshops in Delta this fall and winter season!

Calligraphy Exhibition โ€“ 01 to 15 September 2026

Folklore Festival 2026

Folk Lore – Folk Dance Workshop โ€“ Open to the Public!

Kick off the new season with energy and culture! Join Folk Star Arts Academy for a fun and engaging folk dance workshop designed to bring the community together through movement, music, and tradition.

This workshop is open to everyone no experience needed. Come learn Punjabi folk arts while building confidence, staying active, and connecting with others in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Activities include:

Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience before the big stage! Join us for a special Meet the Artist session where professional performers from the Folklore Festival will connect with the community.

This interactive session will include storytelling, artist insights, and a preview of the September 6 main stage performance, along with opportunities to meet and engage with the performers.

Summer Camp โ€“ Registration Now Open!

Looking for a fun, engaging, and active way for kids to spend their summer? Join Folk Star Arts Academy for our exciting Summer Camp filled with culture, creativity, and movement!

Our camp offers a unique opportunity for youth to learn and explore Punjabi folk arts while building confidence, teamwork, and stage presence in a supportive and energetic environment.

Camp activities include:

  • Punjabi Folk Dance โ€“ Bhangra & Giddha

  • Dhol (Punjabi drum) basics

  • Drawing & creative activities

  • Fitness and movement sessions

Throughout the camp, students will develop new skills, make friends, and connect with culture through fun, hands-on learning experiences.

Sikh Identity & Community Engagement 2026: Workshops, Seminar, and Nagar Kirtan Outreach

Summary of Planned Activities

This project includes a series of community-focused initiatives consisting of two workshops, one educational seminar, and two major public outreach activations during Sikh Heritage Month. These activities are designed to promote awareness, cultural education, and community engagement around Sikh identity, history, and traditions.

On April 11, 2026 (Saturday), from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the project will host an outreach booth at the Vancouver Nagar Kirtan. The booth will offer free turban tying, distribution of rumฤls (head coverings), and educational materials about Sikh history, articles of faith, and challenges faced by Sikh Canadians.

On April 12, 2026 (Sunday), from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, an educational seminar will be conducted at Khalsa Library. The seminar will cover Sikh history, migration, the Komagata Maru Incident, Sikh contributions to Canada, and discussions on racism experienced by Sikh communities both historically and in contemporary society.

Finally, on April 18 (Saturday), 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, another outreach booth will be set up at the Surrey Nagar Kirtan. This large-scale activation will provide free turban tying, rumฤls, bilingual educational materials, and direct engagement with tens of thousands of attendees, fostering cultural awareness and inclusion.

On April 24, 2026 (Friday), from 05:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a Turban Tying Workshop will also take place at Guru Angad Dev School. This interactive session will demonstrate how to tie a Sikh turban (dastaar), while explaining its importance within Sikh faith, culture, and identity. The workshop will also address common misconceptions and encourage cultural understanding.

On April 25, 2026 (Saturday), from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, a Punjabi Folk Dance Workshop will be held at Guru Angad Dev School. This hands-on session will focus on Bhangra and Giddha, highlighting the cultural significance of Punjabi folk dance and its role in preserving Sikh identity. The workshop is open to youth and the broader community.

Workshop Acting skills & expression, largely through movement

Build Confidence. Express. Perform. Shine! Join our fun, one-hour Theatre Workshop designed to help young performers build confidence, creativity, and stage presence through engaging games and acting exercises. No experience needed just come ready to try something new!

Led by Chelsey Kolenda, a local teacher and founder of Beyond the Stage, with 17 years of experience working with children.

Folk Star Arts Academy is excited to announce our participation in Mela Punjabian Da 2026, presented by Folk Nach bhangra competition .Join us for this 2-day outdoor competition on July 25 & 26, 2026, where our teams will be competing on both days, showcasing high-energy Punjabi folk dance and representing our community with pride.
