Folk Star Arts Academy is deeply committed to building a stronger and healthier community by; cultivating an understanding and appreciation for Punjabi Folk Art, including Bhangra and Folk music, 

within the diaspora, creating opportunities for meaningful engagement in quality programs and events designed to engage, educate, and connect Canadian Punjabi youth with their heritage and culture, and fostering understanding, acceptance, 

and the celebration of each Canadian’s unique background through innovative and experimental collaborations with diverse genres of music and dance.

Audience

Folk Stars Arts Academy Society (FSAAS) is a registered not-for-profit society It was founded in September 2019, and is a member of CID (The International Dance Council) since 2021. A group of talented and experienced arts enthusiasts came together to form the platform which has a mandate of promoting, preserving, performing, and presenting the Punjabi culture and providing a platform to different cultures and bringing the communities together

Our primary audience encompasses members of the Punjabi community, including both immigrants and Canadian-born individuals. We aim to provide them with a comprehensive education on Punjabi culture, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their heritage. Simultaneously, we extend our outreach to members of all other cultures, inviting them to engage with us and gain insight into Punjabi traditions, while also embracing the opportunity to learn about their cultures. Through this cultural exchange, we strive to promote mutual understanding and unity within our diverse community.

Individuals with exceptional talents are closely associated with Folk Star Arts Academy, joyfully sharing their knowledge of our language, traditions, and culture with new members, particularly those who are born and raised in North America. At Folk Star Arts Academy, we wholeheartedly endeavour to perform across North America, ensuring ample opportunities for new members to gain exposure through major events, learn diverse art forms from a talented peer group, and connect with other remarkable teams and individuals.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an environment for everyone to showcase their inner Art and provide an equal platform to everyone despite their history and background.

 

We have been collaborating with different dance schools and artists in the past to do our annual festivals and plan to take steps forward through Art against systematic barriers and racism and Inclusiveness. Our core values include Equality, Diversity, Inclusiveness, Collaboration and Courage. Equality for all individuals, cultures, backgrounds, and communities; Diversity by preserving our own culture in its original forms by reaching out to experienced and educated artists.

Inclusiveness of all sorts of performers and creators of Art and Courage to have confidence in our roots. All these core values head towards our general mission to preserve our own culture and at the same time encourage other cultures which we have been showcasing in the past and will continue to do so in the future to. To us, art is a simple term with an infinite range of possibilities and holds a
significant presence at Folk Star Arts Academy.

The academy actively engages in various projects in collaboration with various forms of Punjabi art, including Bhangra, Bhangra fusion with various dance forms, acting, painting, singing, music, instruments, and language.
